• Gi Jiu-Jitsu

    Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu has its roots in Judo, and traditionally has been practiced in a similar uniform, called a gi (hard G, and rhymes with “she”), occasionally known as a kimono, and almost never as battle pajamas. Apart from looking very cool and helping us live up to our Karate-Kid dreams, training in the gi adds significant puzzle-solving elements to grappling, leading to jiu-jitsu’s reputation as “physical chess”.

  • No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

    No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Although jiu-jitsu training without the gi has gone on for a long time, it has become especially popular over the last few years. Training without the gi creates a different pace and feel than training with the gi does, and some techniques are omitted, while others are made available. Wrestling has exerted a substantial influence on no-gi jiu-jitsu, but we promise not to make you wear a singlet.
